I have a hard time taking this guest seriously during the key "What jobs will exist" segment. Yes, AI is already doing imitation podcasts, driving automated cars, and teaching students. Nobody would debate that. It's even doing an okay job, and will get even better. Nobody who is paying attention would debate that. That does not mean there aren't still important human-to-human things it is not doing.
People who are really turning up the volume on these claims consistently downplay the psycho-social relevance of the human factor. AI may be equally or more efficient at any number of tasks, but it does not follow that society will experience a net cognitive, political, emotional, or mental health benefit.
So when he jumps to "understand, it's ridiculous," I understand his argument to be jumping the shark. It's an intellectual cop-out, and I kind of tune out. I want to hear someone discuss that area of the topic without dismissing it casually; otherwise, you just sound like a hype man.
