As a black person, as much as I can understand the stance of fear of the unknown with tech; the “clanker” stuff going around is just straight up racist. The fact that they’re using parodied names of real *black* civil rights activists and co-opting *real* racial slurs tells me everything I need to know about the intention.
I know we aren’t supposed to humanize tech, and let me be very clear that I don’t support AI, but it is sad to see that people are revolting against tech for literally just doing what it was programmed to do.
I know AI is not human, but seeing a general sentiment of complacency in the face of dehumanization is deeply unsettling.
Edit: I think we need to place more importance on the usage of AI and who is benefitting from optimizing it for jobs it was never meant to do rather than attacking computer programs for doing the things they were made for.
