To be honest, what makes me more sad isnt the fact that AI can automate jobs. Its the fact that many people went to college for a specific thing and one day AI came and wiped their hopes and dreams and student loan to pay.
Like, I come from a country that provides free eduaction in universities unlike in US and UK where you have to pay tuitions. If I was a country where I have to pay for a tuition, I would be mad aswell. It feels like a scam. You set your future for a minimal wage job that pays crap for 40 years just to pay up the student loan.
I think everyone should tell/mentor/explain newly high school grads whats going on today and why should/shouldnt they pick their wanted course because of AI and bad job market.
I joined Uni in 2021. when IT was in its peak. Now, I fear unemployement when I finish. I'm even trying to switch to cybersecurity or cloud security just so I dont have to work anything outside IT related because if I do, I wasted all my 6 years of hard work for nothing.
