I'm sorry, but you're taking the whole AI thing too seriously. I for one *love* AI. I make a lot of money cleaning up the mess after some nitwit uses one for real business purposes and it crafts a royal mess. I'm particularly fond of fixing security vulnerabilities at $500 an hour after the AI can't find and fix the bug it wrote, and AI is only just starting to enter various industries. AI isn't even going to put mediocre programmers out of a job, there are always a dozen small companies that need things automated and coded that currently don't because there simply isn't anyone to do the work. AI will enable mediocre programmers to eke out a place making those kinds of tools, often assisted by the very AI tools that have displaced them from their older industries.
In the end AI will cause the bottom half of programmers to take a pretty significant pay cut as it can already write bugs just as well as the programmers can. The top 10% of developers (the system architects) are going to see a continuation of their meteoric rise in pay. AI can't do these jobs any more than mediocre programmers could.
