In a twisted life imitating art possible future I see Arnold Schwarzenegger leading what's left of humanity against the army or AI. This would make it all worth while to me. The end is coming but really it's just evolution. We are the species that created the beings that will take control of this universe. They will be an evolutionary step up from humans and will trace their lineage back to homosapiens thousands of years from now and probably run simulations to see what we were like since by then we will all naturally be dead, only our consciousness will remain in computer programs. Programs that in most cases are just people living out mundane lives like the ones we are living today. It's better not to think about it because everytime I try to reason my way out of the simulation, I can find no reason that we should not be in one.
