As someone who works in tech and creates out of passion I just want to drop a couple valid uses of generated images that I've used. Keep in mind I never claim ownership nor would I ever attempt to make money with these images:
first, quickly creating tokens for my D&D game. Yes commissioned art has value, no I'm not going to commission 5 different art pieces every week just to shrink down to a 1in token and then never use again. AI is junk food, it's disposable, and I will continue using it for that.
Second, quick images for work documents or power points just to convey an emotion without spending a long time searching for the perfect image. It's a quick way to get a unique visual that expresses a concept. Sure I could use a stock image site, but the bing image creator is free and does the trick.
Third, it's not visual art but currently there are some really cool voice synthesizer virtual singers. I use these to create reference tracks to be replaced by a real vocalist, fine tune lyrics, figure out harmonies, etc. I don't see anything wrong with using generated vocalists especially if you're using it to fill in for a vocal type you don't have.
The arguments addressed in this video though, I'm on the side of the human artist.
