Sure, AI is based on human knowledge. But AI was able to come up with completely new strategies to defeat the world champion at the game Chess, and the game Go. This is because even though its based on our knowledge, it can run endless interactions of that knowledge, and come up with unforseen results. Singularity is very much possible.
