To me, the main difference between AI and humans is that humans can experience things for themselves, while AI has to be given experience secondhand. Even with that, humans do not really create from nothing either. We remix, reinterpret, and combine what is already around us. We work with what we have seen, felt, learned, and lived through, then put our own twist on it. Nothing a person makes is completely disconnected from what came before it.
The reason AI still falls short is not because it creates in some fundamentally different way, but because its level of experience is still limited, almost like that of a child. It has access to information, but it is still learning how to properly connect it, interpret it, and apply it with depth. As AI continues to improve, I think it will reach a point where people will not be able to clearly distinguish between human made and AI made work, because in many ways both are built through the same kind of process: pulling from what already exists and reshaping it into something new.
That said, humans still have autonomy, and that matters. We can think, choose, judge, and act with intention. Even if some form of that is imitated in AI, it will never be fully the same. Humans will never be able to create something that is truly 100 percent conscious, because we are human, not God. At best, we can create something that imitates consciousness. Because of that, there will always need to be a human element when using AI. Without that, the result is usually just mindless slop, or mediocre at best.
