Seems pretty obvious to me... YouTube is applying subtle de-aging filters to Shorts content to make it more appealing to a youth audience.
Younger viewers are condition to seeing hyper filtered TikTok or Instagram content, yet historically, I think its fair to say that YouTube creators are older / more mature than the TikTok creator crowd. This is YouTube's behind the scenes effort to keep the platform visually on par with the competition, they just aren't telling the creators. I noticed a similar sort of tactic 7 years ago, when all of a sudden all the top videos for months featured visibly minorities and mostly female creators. That was YouTube's algorithm filtering out creators of a "specific background" to make more room on the platform for others. I was a full time creator for 13 years and saw this kind of crap all the time. Just another reason why I stopped making videos for ScrewTube. Its just a giant mindphuck
