AI in the hands of the tech bros is an existential threat. Imagine all the taxis being autonomous cars. You get into one, the cameras spying on you feed a police database that mistakes you for a "person of interest", and the car locks you in and delivers you to the police station. Or there is a protest against this, and the autonomous cars are used by the owner to block streets or even attack you.
