An interesting point in the field of targeting assistance and semi autonomous engagement profiles, is that Surface to Air weapons systems, particularly lomg range missiles have been operatimg this way for 70 years by now.
Radar targeting allows for detection at ranges utterly inaccessable to a human operator, and radar targeting based guidance enables engageme t of targets at altitudes ranges and velocities where a highly trained human operator could simply not calculate a firing aolution in time. Semi or fully automatic wngagement profiles also come into play when the guidance is used for defensive fire. It is not affordable to wait for a fire command when you have to take down a nuclear bomber or anti ship missile headed straight for you. So for all the moral concerns of no human in the loop engagement, there have been, for a long time, scenarios, where we have been using exactly that. This probably goes some way to explainimg the numerous russian blue on blue SAM incidents of the ukraine war.
