With respect to the much vaunted potential of AI over a longer term to eliminate to a high degree scarcity of goods and services, try to imagine what economic system would work in a humane way where everyone has an unlimited number of free, highly capable slaves who provide them with all the goods and services a sane person wants and provides everyone with all known knowledge and current affairs news? What are the goods and services that are inherently zero-sum game theory processes? Well, fir starters on that list is: power, fame, antique and land physical properties, individual humans and animals (not including just physical likenesses), the attention of other humans, game victory.
For these goods and services, competition cannot be eliminated. One can assume, therefore, that resources will be accumulated by competitors to advance chances to win. What economic system would fit that purpose? In other words, what legal system would be needed to protect competitors for and holders of such goods and services, and, as well, undergird the marketing/distribution of attendant processes and properties? In short, what "rules of the road" are going to hold, especially in our Constitutional system and attendant current liberal values?
If the legal system has a low market dynamic and a high authoritative side, then what means would best service liberal values that grant such authority? In other words, what checks and balances of distribution and exercise of such authority would best assure sustainability of such a system? A cautionary tale in this regard is playing out presently that show that "perfect storms" or confluences of circumstances can arise, or be made to arise, that show the potential to undermine our existing Constitutional and other checks and balances for distribution of resources (power, legal, wealth, information, coercive force and ....). Can that problem be fixed in such a way that the fix itself is not abusive or prone to being hacked? Lastly, let us consider the high level of hazards that historically attend the transition phases to system reform and system replacement.
Added note: The "Golden Rule" is "do unto others as you would have them do unto you." The antithesis of the Golden Rule is "Those with the gold make the rules." However, these two rules are not totally opposites; for if looked at from a systems point of view, some of both, a "recipe" of both, is needed to create and maintain a workable system for "the most for the most" and for minority protections.
