We should take care with the words we use to describe AI: It doesn't have an intellect, it doesn't think or understand, and it doesn't have desires. It's a machine, zeros and ones in a pattern. If it's programmed to persuade us that it is sentient, it will be incredibly convincing, and our anthropomorphizing is only going to make us easier to fool.
