It's really fascinating to see how this exercise demonstrates some of the problems with attempting to make these LLMs personify themselves. If the AI presented itself like the shipboard AI on a Federation vessel in Star Trek with no personalization (so no pronouns, no aping the caricature of this human facade with emotions and opinions) we wouldn't have so many of these issues that relate to the act of being a person and the fact that being a person means one inherently, through the act of living, takes moral stances.
Thus far, one of the few things that I have become very convinced of when thinking about LLMs is that they should not attempt to personify a human with emotions and any caricature of dreams and desires and personability. I am definitely going to add this to the box of useful demonstrations as to why that is inherently problematic.
...I guess at the end of the day, one of the issues is, from a corporate perspective, the whole idea of this personalized cutout of a human fosters a lot more engagement, and is presumably a better vehicle for their aims.
