AI? colleges themselves killed the value of degrees. A lot are just worthless in terms of providing any kind of marketable certification. Our whole educational system abandoned teaching logic and reason in favor of emphasizing emotionalism over reason instead. The schools have focused more on 'empire building' in various department creating huge staffs that are non-value added to the quality of the certification. Ratio of instructors to students has dropped, while the ratio of overhead staff to students has skyrocketed-- vastly increasing the cost of the degree. They've been able to do this through a student loan program designed to benefit the banks/schools over the students. If we wanted the schools to improve, the government would get out of backing student loans and we'd make the loans dischargeable in bankruptcy. Put the school/bank on the hook if the loan can't be repaid. That would incentivize schools to focus on providing productive degrees at competitive pricing and the banks to actually look at a particular degree providing sufficient income to pay off the loan in order to approve them.
