I can see the use of genAI as a reference in the sense of a mood board.
Some indie games such as "The Roottrees are dead" used it as placeholder, replaced with real art in the 1.0 version.
GenAI is useful for art that doesn't matter. I don't think it belongs on art (or even stock image) websites. If I wanted an AI image, I'd generate it myself, that's the whole point!
