Maybe a compromise would be to create a system like Spotify, where artists can opt-in to be included in AI-generated art and the system compensates the artist based on how often their art is used in AI-prompting. AI-artists pay the company a subscription fee to use the art, and to keep the system feasible. It would also create an income stream to new artists who are starting out and want to make their style popular amongst AI-artists. The more popular your work becomes within the system (how commonly it’s requested by AI-artists’ prompts), the more money they make.
