Two things:
Just cause you say it’s the future and it isn’t going away, doesn’t make it so. Many projects have failed cause they don’t work out, physically, feasibly, scientifically or ***finnancially*** Those are the inventions that also get forgotten about and why you can’t think of a good comparable product to AI.
On that note, the closest comparison to a product to an AI would be a smart device on my eyes; one that for no reason has an app and needs to be connected to WiFi, etc. If you stop paying that subscription or if the company goes under, you may just have a useless product. This is comparable in the way that AI has to use other sources of “inspiration” to base its image generation off of. If that well ever dries up of artists cause they’ve all been replaced by AI. All the industries mentioned that were shaken up by a new invention still exist. People still draw art by hand, people still use horses for labour and transport
No one is marveling at a smart toaster when a normal toaster does the same job
