I'm in my 80's. Starting with the 1970's, (in my particular memory) we started letting profit sanctify everything. We were all sort of willing to look the other way with the hope and desire that any one of us may hit upon the thing that could bring windfall profits or that at least our toys would be great and our Healthcare and transportation. America was on a joyride. And now, the good things that came out of that era are being thrown out to make way for the power hungry to harvest the fruits of our lack of awareness, our willingness to wink at some graft, and a whole lot of other things. Under these influences how are we going to get the powers that be to create the proper controls for AI? It will take the majority of Americans to wake up and speak up. Right now we have a large portion of our populace that are not only unaware but wilfully unaware.
