Up until Thursday, May 22nd, 2025. I had not given any real thought to AI or how it will change things. But I sustained a leg injury and spent some time reading up on it. I’ve realised over the last week that it is going to be completely change the world, and it will happen so much faster than even the greatest experts had anticipated. It seems like seems like basically every kind of job will be at huge risk very soon, and that’s the best case scenario. Worst case scenario, AI takes over and the whole world is destroyed by it.
I wonder if people felt this kind of fear and uncertainty during the early stages of the nuclear arms race.
I have no children, live alone and feel quite hopeless. I wonder what % of the world’s population is also feeling like this. I suppose most people have lives going on, so don’t have the time to be thinking about the imminent threats on the road ahead. But I'm genuinely frightened and profoundly sad for the world we are about to lose.
