I mean, people will always talk bad about a self-driving car when something bad happens. However, the 99% of the time that they're driving perfectly and even avoiding accidents due to near instant reaction time, they won't say crap! Self-driving cars are only getting better and better with each drive. The only way we can ever hope for 99.999% perfect Self-driving vehicles in our future is if they keep testing and innovating. Yes, there will be mistakes and accidents, which is why I don't think it's safe yet to introduce them as taxis or without a licensed driver in the driver seat watching the road and overriding when things mess up, but eventually, they will get to that level where we'll start seeing significant decrease in traffic and accidents when the majority of the vehicles are Self-driving.
I also believe that these Self-driving companies like Waymo need to work with law enforcement in order for Police computers to be able to connect and communicate directly with the car, so that if a cop needs to pull them over, they would be able to communicate it directly between the police computer and the Self-driving car computer.
