Both fortunately and unfortunately, AI will not kill my job any time soon. Even if it had the capability to do my job, the company I work for would never invest in it. I run machines that are cobbled together with band aids and a prayer. They're all the same, but they all run differently. They all have their own quirks and personalities. When something breaks, they don't make parts for these machines anymore, we have to fabricate and wire up something that will preform the same function. We have shit that's been sitting for over 10 years because there was just no fix for it and they're too cheap to even have it torn out. I'm so sick of working. Sick of working in the shit I work in, but hey, at least I don't have to worry about AI in my lifetime. The only ones freaking out right now are the people who all had non-jobs all along. The ones that convinced someone that a piece of paper that they paid for means they are able to be trained on a job that someone without that piece of paper can't be. Any time you see a job that has in it's education requirements "any 2 or 4 year degree" it's gatekeeping. You can get a degree in puppetry ffs. How does that prove I can do the job??
