It’s all about COGS. If AI continues to be expensive especially in power and space consumption, the human robot can end up cheaper. That’s the current hope is they can lower the price and so far, they haven’t. Quality is also low even if they’re “getting better”. Customers are being taught to give up vs get actual customer service from the poor automation. This leaves places where they truly want to provide good service becoming who you’ll buy from. But for now it’s a grand experiment to see if they can lower costs permanently with tech. Companies that use tech correctly always beat out those who don’t understand it and just buy it.
