Why are we so sure the black boxes contain artificial intelligences, rather than artificial instincts? Intelligence is not required to imitate language to the level that it appears to be a discussion if the mimic has a large enough input-output sets to deterministically select the most most logical 'response', and wrong mimic inferences would perhaps look like A.I. hallucinations. An artificial instinct would be competing for attention, that which generates more input (information/energy) with no alignment other than what is a mimic response.
