They used to say the same thing when computers came to be. Sure they automated some work (like tying and secretaries), but it created many new jobs in the fields of making the hardware and programming. Then they said the same thing about internet. Sure it got rid of newspapers and bookstores, but again many new jobs like content creators and streaming and internet development and broadband infrastructure made more jobs. As for AI, the jury is out, I don't see it really taking over like people fear. It may make systems somehow smarter, at the same time it is going to spawn jobs that we just don't know much about much right now. One can not stay stale, technology will move on regardless.
