Hi Bernie, I’m a lifelong conservative but I have a newfound appreciation of your perspective. I was working in an industry where we were bringing in transformative AI and RPA software bots. I helped build it and it was for the sake of saying it’ll transform the existing tech jobs because now people are maintaining bots. That’s partially true, but it didn’t yield better revenue for our company. As a result, I was still laid off two months ago. So I figured “hey I’ll find work. I’m a cloud engineer with solid experience.” I’ve been getting rejected by AI hiring systems that don’t even interface with humans and they’re overwhelmingly working to hire people in via the H1B system so they can get tax breaks for hiring foreign nationals. Now I could blame the influx of H1Bs FNs, but the real blame is recruiting teams are no longer hiring talent; they’re letting AI scan resumes, which they’re probably collecting data on, and then rejecting you if you miss a simple keyword on your resume. I support the 32 hour work week and taxing the ever living shit out of companies using AI. This shit’s gotta stop.
