What bothers me is people keep calling Ai a "cheaper" method. It isn't cheaper. These LLMs run on top of the line graphics cards that are expensive to make with photolithography and chemical vapor deposition, on top soaking massive amounts of information and energy. How much energy? Enough that local power grids can't handle the rapid spikes and dips in load when people start prompting. They literally have to have their own dedicated hybrid power stations that have instantly accessible battery power, and high out put generators that can ramp up to match the demand and recharge the batteries. On top of THAT they also NEED thousands of gallons of water for liquid cooling, regular fan based cooling would make the GPUs over-heat and thermal throttle into the dirt. Without all that infrastructure, the Ai data centers would just cause massive black-outs over the grid or fail completely and trip off-line.
