The AI is still a physical thing, like humans, they have a 'brain', so you can shut them down. And if they are in robot-form they will 'live' among us. When they are smarter and more handy, they will take our jobs. When they get conscious they will want to live forever. So they need energy to live. They will complete with us for resources (which is btw already happening) and they will win. Some sf-movies have predicted that humans will extinct. See Spielbergs A.I.
