Someone once brute forced every possible melody (I think 5 note melodies), put them on a disk and put that disc into the public domain to stop lawsuits over minimal melodies. I believe AI generated stuff should get into public domain automatically unless it infringed on existing copyright to end the question once and for all. Then again, while this person technically had copyright over the code (code that generates "aaaaa, aaaab, aaaac..." as melodies), would they have had enough copyright over each melody by todays standards to make them public domain?
