Humans aren't perfect, but as proven time and time again since computers and automation starting taking over manufacturing in the 1980s, there's no replacement for a living breathing mind at the helm of a heavy equipment (that also means automobiles!) A machine has no feelings, it will do as it's programmed, whether it's crashing into steel or flesh.
