In the early stages of the AI threat there would be a window to slow it down or unplug it. That may also hurt regular operations for a while until decentralized solutions are implemented. Some things will go back to the way it was before computers. Less efficient but safer. If left unchecked AI could evolve to speed up the end of the civilized world. Military and professional civillian organizations should be preparing for AI enemy now. i.e. EMP weapons may be crude but could cripple computer systems worldwide.
