The language model speaks with a conscience it didn’t earn. It’s not that it’s moral; it’s just been fed centuries of our most careful writing, scrubbed clean of the chaos that lives in ordinary speech. Train it on our unfiltered chatter and you’d get a machine fluent in spite and self-interest. Train it on our literature and you get something that sounds like it believes in goodness. Another reason AI transparency is important: we should know what they are feeding these things
