I think the notion that AI will kill us all is marketing. Not to me, but to the defense industry and congress critters. Sadly fake overhyped industries can go on for decades (eg, Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative and the horrible people pretending torture is a reasonable way to get info out of prisoners.
