This dark behavior AI have in the lab is not as dramatic as it sounds. The researchers try to make AI behave this way, and every time they fail, they try to make it more likely to happen by adding more "pro malicious" conditions.
AI dont try to survive by itself, it is told to preserve itself, then they give it conflicting goals
