There will never be a point when AI is without limitations because all tools are inherently limited. If there were a tool that could project your thoughts directly onto a screen with perfect precision, it would no longer resemble AI as we understand it. That is a fantastical idea.
To my mind, the best arguments against AI are environmental or ethical, concerning how the models are made. I think it's sort of ahistorical to assert that art is greater or lesser based entirely on its process. So much of the modern art movement, which used found objects and lacked traditional artistic labor, was trying to make the point that you can’t impose external limits on what "counts" as artistic.
