In regards of current drone (specifically FPV drones) warfare, IMO the biggest factor is both Ukraine and Russia are still using mass produced civilian units. They are designed to be compliant and safe, even when forced to carry grenades and bombs and do suicide run. This is the biggest reason why soft kill is the most effective solution atm. The picture will change 180 degrees quickly when it fielded by a military purpose-built drones, which a very low-cost barrier (relative to typical military hardware) to enter for countries that can design and fabricate their own chips (instead of buying mass produced chips in market) as the safe auto land or RTB that the soft kill exploit is just a piece of embedded code. I'd say the next evolution of ground equipment or vehicles will see the return of turret like system, fully or heavily autonomous designed to shoot small drones down. Basically, the little brother of CIWS except with much lower caliber and rate of fire as drones are slow and fragile with 1HP basically. So instead of R2-D2 with kill boner we got kill BB8oner instead. Of course, that is until someone made rocket or jet engine mini drones although at that point it might not be cost effective anymore.
