I’m on team failure! Couldn’t give a crap about millionaires and boomers losing money in the markets. I already make as little as is possible to live on, so what do I have to lose? I can always get another minimum wage job. The only chance Gen z has at building wealth and families like our grandparents did is if the everything bubble pops and soon. I genuinely think that trying to get an LLM to be AGI is like saying if you can upgrade your wood splitting axe enough, eventually it will be able to run your custom Skyrim mod pack. Use GPT enough and it’s blatantly obvious (at least to me) that we are fooled into thinking something that speaks is intelligent. No matter how good it gets, it will always be a word calculator, not a consciousness. Starting with something that can write google search summaries and expecting it to turn into true intelligence is starting from the wrong place. We don’t even know how intelligence really emerged, but we do know that it didn’t start by reading millions of pages of human texts and then learning to copy how we sound. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still got the potential to take jobs from people who do what it does but worse, but good luck getting those salaries it replaces to ever make up the cost of development.
