AI right now is a tool. I imagine the human mind as a tool designed to simulate reality with the emergent property of consciousness, which we are likely no closer to creating now than before the first computers were made. Even if AI becomes superintelligent, there will always need to be humans leading it in order to create meaning out of that intelligence. In this way, I see AI as an extension of ourselves rather than a threat that will overthrow us.
