Came out of college in 2000 with a degree in Visual Communications. I could throw a penny in any direction and get a job in the field. Had two offers before I was even out of school. It was the golden age of graphic design. I feel so bad for the younger kids today having to deal with the increasing proliferation of Fake Job ads, mismatch between skills and requirements and frustrations in transparency and poor communication for employment. Not to mention the insane amount of layoffs, agency and business closures in the advertising industry these days. I've now lost my design job and hit 50. I found one conducted survey which found only 4.1% of graphic designers working are over the age of 50 in the US and UK. Hoping AI can help fix this broken hiring system...
