The reason the upper class invested everything in AI is because it realized during the pandemic that relying on human workers for profits is shaky ground, that dependence on human labor is a liability, and that hanging its fate on something as frail as "human capital" is unwise. AI is its "solution" to wages. And once we'll no longer be needed, either for labor or consumption, don't imagine they're planning on keeping us around (why keep your historic class-enemy around when it's an expensive existential risk?).
