The notion that advanced technology will create a utopia for the general public by making it possible for us to spend our ever increasing free time as we wish while working less hours for the same pay is an incredibly naive trope that that is propagated by corporations marketing said technology. People have been talking about this since the dawn of capitalism, yet it has never happened. What has happened is that any technology advancement makes it possible for us to be more productive at work given the same amount of time, and thus increasing profits for business owners, shareholders, and the elite socioeconomic classes.
We won't experience a utopia of any sort in this transition, only massive job loss as AI makes us all redundant. I suppose there's always blue collar work...
