Actually, I think you reported on SciShow this past year that an AI was developed which DID pass the Turing Test. A team of researchers built an AI that was able to convince numerous testers that it was actually a 3rd-grade boy (or was it a 13-yr-old boy? can't remember). In any case, I remember a comment about it was something along the lines of: "It's not that hard to fool someone when your AI has to basically act like an excusably immature idiot."
