Jimmy and the other guys on the show are technophobes, and out of touch with the progress in robotics.
Self driving cars and trucks WILL happen, and probably sooner than people realize. Uber is testing self driving cars in Pittsburgh and San Francisco. Tesla has a self driving feature for highways. Self driving trucks have already successfully completed deliveries under automated control only.
The driving factors are labor costs and safety. Self driving taxis and delivery trucks will be cheaper to operate and safer on the roads.
Yes you will probably have to go down to the car to pick up your pizza or package, but you will do it if it saves you the $5 delivery charge, plus tip for the driver - I hate that!
