The video is well made but it leaves out some relatively obvious stuff that would throw over the whole dilemma.
1. The car would leave enough space in front of it to be able to simply hit the breaks when something falls off the truck. The cars behind it would react instantly and hit the breaks too.
2. Even if the car would have to swerve left or right the suv/motorcycle (also self-driving vehicles) could react accordingly and swerve too.
