It is not unethical. The system which forces people into mindless menial jobs resulting in pointless meaningless lives, for the comfort of 1% of the population is unethical. Not only should every job that can be automated, BE automated, but it CAN be done with today's technology. The result would be the end of the monetary system and the beginning of an awakened age where every human is harnessed for their innovation to create a society so advanced beyond modern imagination that it is... well... advanced beyond modern imagination.
Alongside community and education, technology is the only reason(s) our species had made it as far as we have to rise to the top of the food chain. Any institution that stands in the way of that progress (see government, religion, and economics) does not just threaten our current concerns of class warfare, falling economies, and terrorism, but the survival of our species.
Human beings did not evolve to be corporate slaves but to thrive and create and dream.
