If a car is advanced enough to sense the cars nearby and vice versa, I think it would be a great idea for the other cars around it to have sensors where passengers are seated, so the car senses what spot is the safest to hit.
I mean if you have one car on your left and one on right, it would be a good idea to hit the one who doesn't carry a passenger. (Supposedly the car to the left, as the car to the right carries the driver in the front seat.
If the left one carries a passenger, then the car should be left with the only option of hitting the heavy load, as hitting the back of the car to the left / right results in the car turning left / right (depending which side one hits), and that could lead to the cars behind your left n right not being able to break in time to crash in the car you've already crashed in.
Also, the highway never goes at 90km/h having all lines filled. Thus, an algorithm forcing the cars to drive 15m apart in one another line, so every car has space to turn
