there are multiple ways to look at this:
1. MORE OUTPUT. no change in head count, resume hiring bright college hire + resume firing under performer. AI will increase productivity and quicker launch since other companies will be doing the same.
2. SAME OUTPUT. reduce head count some what and use AI to do the chores. Still require human to sign off on code, doing on-call etc. Each engineer is a tech lead in an area. In fact for redundancies, there should be 2 engineers per area.
3. SAME OUTPUT BETTER QUALITY. same head count but there are more work per work-item. Work quality expectation is near perfect since someone will be using AI to attack your endpoint for exploit.
