Has been for decades, even before AI To see what a society looks like where someone making $1000 a month falls in the top %1 of earners - India shows the way. 1.2 billion people have small jobs and work, but live and manage in frugal squalor. 200 million live western middle class lives. And a few million are wealthy by western standards. It’s not that people don’t make a living - they do. It’s the absolute slavery to the whims of those with money, the lack of options and opportunities, the inability to start anything new, the daily desperation for a little more to make things easier for yourself or your kids. This is normal everyday with cable tv and YouTube blasting mindless entertainment. And govt corruption from local to national surprises no one. There’s free healthcare though.
