At this point I don't even think it's about profits. All the tech-oligarchs are convinced that AGI is almost here and if they just manage to build enough datacenters they'll own it and then use it to rule the world. Bezos and Musk don't want to live in a world ruled by Zuckerberg's AI. Zuckerberg doesn't want to live in a world ruled by Musk's AI- you get the idea.
