I have to agree. If the owners and managers are only going to think in 1-2 quarter timeframes, we may have to let go of logic and reason and do the same. Alternatively, find or found a place that cares about the long term. You might have good luck with nonprofits or something for that. The extreme alternative - goat farmer, go back to school, retire early, etc. For me, my background is primarily network engineering and I was just pushing into software roles over the last few years, so I'm thinking I'll go back to that and find some city to work for that doesn't have the budget or ability to replace people with AI.
